Andrews Automation deliver cost savings for customers during tough times

December 18, 2008

Andrews Automation, the specialist conveyor systems company, has recently completed projects for Linpac Packaging and Komfort Workspace that have delivered significant savings to these organisations. Mick Wood of Linpac said, “ The new Andrews system gives us a quick return, cost savings and some real efficiencies. It’s a no-brainer’.

Andrew Davenport of Andrews Automation commented “ The auto wrapping pallet conveyor system installed for Linpac provided improved efficiencies through delivering savings on raw materials and an increase in the ‘wrapping rate’. This, combined with a buffer and feed to a forklift, will ensure the system pays for itself within a year’.

Similar financial benefits have been delivered by a new Andrews’s system at Komfort Workspace.

The manufacturing process time was dramatically reduced by the introduction of a new material and Andrews were able to recommend a conveyor handling system that offered further increases in productivity through designing and installing a multiple panel vs. single panel rolling conveyor system, a powered turntable to improve speed and efficiency in the process, conveyor speeds that reduce the need for any storage and handling during manufacture and an automated scissor lift system facilitating improved handling and direct despatch.

Andrew Davenport added “ Our expertise and experience in automated conveyor systems means we can look at a project and create a customer solution that delivers measurable and tangible benefits to companies quickly. We can then really add value through competitive pricing that helps customers achieve the tangible financial benefits they are looking for in today’s economic climate’.

Trans Lyft-shooting for success in 2009

November 19, 2008

Just returned from spending 2 days working with Trans Lyft on sales and marketing planning for 2009, building on the success achieved this year.

The culmination of the two day strategy and sales meeting was a clay-pigeon shoot at Edge Hill Shooting Ground, set in 600 acres of beautiful and historic Warwickshire country side.

Trans Lyft’s sharp shooters took first and second place, MD George Scholes was handicapped and came in lower down the order, and I suprised myself with third place!

Marketing a 21st century library service

November 17, 2008

We provided the marketing and sponsorship strategy for  Gloucestershire County Council’s new £1.1 million Cirencester library which was opened this weekend by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and his wife, Jackie.

It uses the contemporary library branding now common to most of the counties 39 branches, and includes an internet cafe, self-service check-outs, interactive Wii games zone, children’s area with ‘rolling shelving’ inspired a Beijing bookstore, baby-changing facilities, buggy park, sofas and seating, plus innovative and environmentally-friendly wind catchers to provide ventilation, rather than air-conditioning.

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen said: “The library looks so glamorous, a great place for the community of Cirencester to come and enjoy. Some of the design features in the library are unique, like the wavy wooden ceiling, although if I were designing it, it would be made of wavy lollipop sticks.

“One of the items that I have been intrigued by is the use of the original Bingham Library logo within the building; it sets itself as one of the most striking images.”

Whilst the future of libraries remains a hot topic with the press and the public, Gloucestershire’s progressive strategy and planning ensures the county’s service firmly reflects what a 21st century library service should offer.

Top performer to raise the curtain for new state-of-the-art venue

October 7, 2008

From our Press Office

In fact it won’t just be curtains that are raised at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury’s new £28 million entertainment venue, due to open in Spring 2009. Trans Lyft Lifting Technology, the UK’s top performing provider of lifting solutions, has just been asked to design and build two lifts that will have the capacity to move sets, scenery and equipment weighing up to 12 tonnes!

For the designers of the multi-purpose development in Frankwell, it’s important that the cutting edge design on the outside and luxurious comfort inside should be matched by technologically advanced backstage facilities. The new lifts will allow automatic operation up to a height of three and a half metres. Their advanced design will also enable them to cope with the movement of delicate equipment and scenery on and offstage as the lifts’ positions can be controlled with accuracy to the nearest millimetre, minimising the risk of damage.

The team at Lifting Technology have used their sophisticated scissor lift system to successfully provide lifting solutions for clients and projects throughout the UK, and have recently supplied lifts for another important cultural building – Buxton’s historic opera house. For George Scholes, Managing Director, working on public developments like these is a rewarding experience. ‘It’s great to be able to use the expertise we’ve gained working on schemes in industry and commerce for such exciting arts and community projects’.

He added “The company’s enviable reputation has made it impossible for Willmott Dixon, the main contractor on the development, to deny Lifting Technology this new challenge’.
